“taking the road less traveled by”

My girlfriend and I just watched the film tonight. You’ll be happy to know that I plucked down $20 @ B-side.com for the DVD.
As we sat on our duffs, viewing from the comfort of our home the lives of 2 New York City dwellers living out a dream that Cate and I have only been dreaming and talking about (making features and distributing them), the scenes that alternated to the morose caused Cate to turn and say to me, “I’m glad we’re not like that.” And I thought to myself, “not like what?”
Then, I figured it out. She said this during Podcast 3: Pretend. She was glad we weren’t driving ourselves crazy w/ a film project; instead, preferring the comfort of our relationship.
I’m starting to wonder why that’s such a good thing … trading a dream for a bit of comfort.
In your eyes, your lives may look like chaos to each other, but I see two people living their dreams. To borrow from Robert Frost, taking the road less traveled by — the one not trodded by the majority (perhaps out of fear or who-knows-what) — that makes all the difference.
FEM has inspired me to start work once again on my projects, breaking the stubbern law of inertia.
Thanks for making such a great movie.
Peace,
