What we learned from our DIY Thursdays in September run
You can see each week does better then the previous. This proves our theory that when you give a film time for word of mouth to spread you’ll see that occur, provided people like the film. It also proves that this technique of showing the film once a week can be considered pre-release screenings, and theatrical bookings can be made with the proof that the film has the ability to spark word of mouth. Combine this with what we see on our comments page with everyone becoming more interactive in the project by posting their thoughts about the film and it starts to really make sense to get a film first out to some core people that are going to really promote it. Then with that base start to expand. So thats where we are now, expanding. We’ll post some info about how our one week run at cinema village goes December 1st to see if we continue to see growth in New York or if the potential of the film has been tapped by the several hundred people who saw the film in September.
Below are some charts displaying what happened in September. Feel free to re-post, re-use, re-powerpoint, re-distribute in anyway all of the contents of this post.
