Press Release
We now have a publicist working with us named Katie Rosin of Kampfire Films and she has released the below press release:
January 12, 2006 Arin and Susan feel that "Slamdance is the perfect venue to showcase these episodes since they portray events that took place during this same time last year when our feature film premiered at Slamdance. Episode 4 scratches the surface but there was a whole lot going on for us at that time and it's all going into these next 3 episodes." The "Four Eyed Monsters Video Podcast" is a series of shorts detailing their relationship with each other, the struggle of their creative process and their quest to get their feature film released. Audiences have been discovering their video podcast on MySpace and subscribing in droves. Using iTunes allows them to automatically get each episode as it's released, to play full screen on the computer or to transfer to a portable player like the Christmas hit video capable iPod. As Arin and Susan lead audiences through their personal discovery, they encourage other filmmakers to come on board this new virtual realm. On their website www.foureyedmonsters.com, they are sharing a step-by-step tutorial on how to take advantage of this medium. With the desire to have more filmmakers utilizing the tools available, they are participating in multiple Sundance and Slamdance panels to infuse the world with their vast knowledge.
The combustible mix of audio blogs and mp3 players known as podcasting has been termed by some as the first great media breakthrough of the 21st century. Combining the democratic ideals of inexpensive digital production, virtual community, content-on-demand, and freedom of expression; podcasting has emerged as an overnight success promising an endlessly varied universe of audio content to anyone who wants it at any time. But behind these ideals, podcasting also opens up a new market with unlimited possibilities with respect to audience penetration, frequency, consumer advertising, and target marketing. Is this a win-win situation for media companies and content developers alike, and where might it take us? Moderated by Jason Calacanis, internet entrepreneur and CEO of Weblogs, Inc. January 25: The media world we live in is changing. Movie attendance is down, time-shifting television and skipping movie ads is the norm, and the daily usage of sites like MySpace is skyrocketing. This is becoming the new discovery mechanism. Online-social-networking is the new word-of-mouth. Web 2.0 is democratizing the marketing and distribution of films and the most important aspect of all of this is that mainstream audiences are ready for independent content. Ladies and gentlemen we have a media revolution on our hands. Join filmmakers Arin Crumley & Susan Buice, for a screening showcasing what they've been doing with this new medium. All the video podcast episodes to date will be screened followed by an interactive discussion about the future of independent media which will include presentations by industry leaders that will provide insights on the future of film marketing and distribution. The Slamdance Film Festival begins Friday, January 20th in Park City, Utah. The festival, now in its 12th year will once again be headquartered at the Treasure Mountain Inn (255 Main Street), with events in Salt Lake City and Sugarhouse. The Slamdance Film Festival serves as a showcase for the discovery of emerging talent. Slamdances mission is to support Thursday, January 26: Gen Art's Jeffrey Abramson mediates an innovative and personal panel titled, Obsessions, Inspiration, and Alone Time which will allow artists to share how their habits, quirks and interests serve as inspiration and foundation for their work in film. Jeff will be dialoguing with this versatile panel about the price of creativity and how artists go about nourishing and restoring themselves during and after the process of creation. You know you do weird things to sustain yourself- don't you wonder what other people do?
