About Me:
I’m a filmmaker who currently lives in bushwick. I started working with video when I was 16 making short films with titles like “X-mas Economics” and “Vegetarianism Video” and then started a production company after high school to get video jobs to fund my old band. At age 20 I decided that I wanted to live in New York and arrived just before September 11th and got to see the city change and made some short films about that and started making other short documentary and narrative films. Then I met Susan Buice and we started sending videos to each other as a way to maintain a creativity based communication as we built our relationship. That experience evolved into the creation of the film FOur Eyed Monsters that told our real life experiences in a meta-narrative way sometimes utilizing real videos we had sent each other. After going to over 20 film festivals during 9 months and recieving rave reviews and awards the film didn’t get picked up for distribution. In 100,000 dollars worth of debt from devoting full time to the film since late 2003 there was a real need to re-coop so a self distribution effort began. That involved building an audience for the film through releasing episodes online that revealed the drama of what it was like to make a film about your real relationship as that relationship crumpled under the pressure of doing so. The first part of the self distribution was releasing the film in theaters using a google map to let people sign up to request the film in their city and then having the film play in the cities with the most requests. Then we started to sell DVDs of the film and released it free on YouTube.

Now I’m working with Susan on new episodes and hope to use any proceeds from Four Eyed Monsters to make a new film. If you want to be a part of that, join the four eyed monsters mailing list and we’ll let you know when it starts to evolve.
